GATE score is valid for 3 years from the date of announcement of results.
GATE 2026 offers 30 subject papers including a new Energy Science paper. Candidates can appear for up to 2 papers.
GATE uses a normalization formula: S = 350 + (350 × (M - Mq)/(Mt - Mq)) where M is raw marks, Mq is qualifying marks and Mt is mean of top 0.1% marks.
Major PSUs like ONGC, IOCL, BHEL, NTPC, GAIL, BARC use GATE scores for direct recruitment of engineers.
